It is that time of year again. The time of year where the weather warms up and the animals come out. As we have in the past we have live baby ducks, bunnies and our baby lamb; however, this year we also have our live baby chicks.
Easter Portraits with Live Baby Lamb and More!!!
Through the years of Easter celebration there have been many symbols of Easter. Easter eggs, painted in beautiful vibrant colors, The Easter bunny, or little chicks that are cute and fuzzy.
There are many symbols that we see in spring that, have over the centuries, been associated with Easter. The resurrection of Jesus Christ
First, The Egg
One of the oldest spring symbols in the world is the egg. The egg itself promises new life, as in spring, birds and many other animals are hatched from eggs, such as baby chicks and ducklings. So over the years when we see brightly colored eggs, baby chicks and baby ducklings we think of new life, Easter and the resurrection of Christ.
Second, The Bunny
Long seen as a German fertility symbol, the bunny didn’t appear in America until the 1700’s. The transfer from the fertility symbol to the Easter bunny occurred naturally over the course of history. Since Easter coincides with rebirth seen during spring, it’s only natural for the two to emerge as one.
Third, The Lamb
Throughout the world the most popular Easter Symbol is the Lamb. The lamb was often sacrificed as offerings to God by the Hebrews long before the first Passover. When Jesus died, he gave himself as an offering to God for the sins of the world. Early Christians then saw the lamb as the symbol of Jesus and used it for Easter celebration. Many Christians refer to Jesus as “The Lamb of God”.
In past centuries it was considered a lucky omen to meet a lamb, especially at Easter time. It was popular superstition that the devil, who could take the form of all other animals, was never allowed to appear in the shape of a Lamb because of its religious symbolism.
.
